Getting Here

We may be out in the beautiful, tranquil French countryside but getting here is easy.

You have a number of options - although a car is needed so, if you are flying, you should arrange for a hire car.

So, getting here by air:

We are just 28km from Bergerac airport.

Although there are more flights in the summer you can fly direct to Bergerac from a number of UK and European airports including London Stansted, East Midlands, Bristol, Bournemouth, Liverpool.  These are all Ryanair - as are the direct flights from Porto and Brussels.

You can also fly into Bergerac using Transavia from Rotterdam.

British Airways fly direct from London City and Southampton and Jet2 from Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds Bradford.

Not all these flights are operated all year - some are summer operations only so please do check with the airlines' websites.  There may be more airlines coming to Bergerac soon so the best place to look is either Sky Scanner or the airport's own site.

When you've landed and picked up your hire car you essentially get to the end of the airport service road and turn left away from Bergerac.  Follow this road for about twenty kilometres until you get to Castillonnes.  The road bends around the town, and is fairly steep.  As you follow the road with Castillonnes on your left you will see a fork to the right.  Turn right (sign posted for Douzains) and follow the signs.

When you get to the village drive past the church and Mairie.  One hundred and fifty metres further on you will see a gravel path on your right - you virtually turn back on yourself.

That's us - welcome to Fon du Bourg.

We are about an hour and a half from Bordeaux airport which is served by many airlines including easyJet and Ryanair and a couple of hours from Toulouse.

If you choose to drive you'll find the French Autoroute system to be very easy with lots of service stations en route.  Have your credit card at the ready because the Autoroutes are mostly toll roads.

The drive can be done in a day from Calais, Boulogne or the other ports in northern France.

It takes a while; normally about nine hours from Calais including stops but it's an easy drive; interesting and pleasant.  If you choose to stop we suggest somewhere around Orleans...

The most popular route to reach us is Calais > Rouen > Le Mans > Poitiers > Angouleme.

The Portsmouth to Caen ferry is becoming a popular option now that it is all motorway from Caen to Bergerac.  It's about a seven hour drive but we've not done that route ourselves...

Your SatNat will bring you right to our door... but when you get to Douzains do look out for the white gravel drive and sign post for Fon du Bourg.  Coming in from Castillonnes we are past the Mairie and church about one hundred and fifty metres further on.  You virtually turn back on yourself but you'll see our Pigeonnier right in front of you.

When you do, you know you've arrived for a relaxing and peaceful holiday.
